ACCEPTING NEW STUDENTS • GRADES 6–10

Equip your student with self-awareness—a tool they’ll use for a lifetime.

School asks students to make increasingly important choices—but rarely gives them the chance to understand how they naturally communicate, solve problems, respond to stress, and work with others.

This personality coaching experience helps your student build that self-awareness and use it to navigate school, relationships, activities, and future decisions with greater confidence.

Help your student Take Flight this school year.

The first step is a complimentary 15-minute introductory call with you and your student to make sure the experience is a good fit

WHAT YOUR STUDENT WILL GAIN

More than an assessment. A better understanding of who they are.

Your student will complete a professional personality assessment, then explore the results through personalized one-on-one coaching—giving them greater confidence to navigate the school year and begin to soar in their own way.

They’ll learn to:

  • Recognize their natural strengths and what motivates them
  • Understand how they communicate and work with others
  • Identify what may cause stress, frustration, or conflict
  • Build confidence without trying to become someone they’re not
  • Appreciate other personalities and the role of personality in dealing with other people
  • Apply what they learn at school, at home, in activities, and beyond

Self-awareness won’t make every decision easy—but it gives your student a stronger foundation for making them.

THE FRAMEWORK BEHIND THE COACHING

What if students could learn now what many adults wish they’d known sooner?

Taking Flight with DISC turns personality theory into a practical, memorable framework students can use in everyday life.

For decades, it has helped people understand how they communicate, what motivates them, how they respond under pressure, and how to work through differences.

After nearly every Taking Flight workshop I lead, an adult says:

“I wish I’d known this when I was younger.”

This coaching gives students that head start.

Instead of waiting until adulthood to understand themselves and how they relate to others, they can begin using that knowledge now—in the classroom, at home, on teams, in friendships, and as they make decisions about what comes next.

MEET YOUR STUDENT’S COACH

Helping students understand themselves before the world tells them who to be.

I’m Leslie Moody, a certified Taking Flight with DISC facilitator and career coach who has spent years helping people recognize their strengths, communicate more effectively, and find places where they can thrive.

In hundreds of coaching and training conversations, I’ve seen how often adults struggle because they were never taught to understand their natural behavioral style. This coaching brings those insights to students earlier—while they’re still discovering who they are and making choices that shape what comes next.

My role isn’t to tell your student who to become. It’s to help them understand who they naturally are—and feel more confident using that knowledge.

Good coaching doesn’t give your student someone else’s answer. It helps them discover their own.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Questions parents may have before enrolling

What is Personality?

Personality is the unique combination of behaviors, emotions, thoughts, and attitudes that shapes how a person experiences and responds to the world. It influences how we communicate, handle stress, approach challenges, make decisions, and connect with others.

Personality frameworks like DISC give us a practical way to recognize these patterns. They don’t define a student or place them in a box. Instead, they provide a shared language for understanding their natural tendencies—and using that awareness more intentionally.

Why Taking Flight with DISC?

Taking Flight with DISC brings the proven DISC behavioral framework to life through four memorable bird styles, making it easier to understand, remember, and apply what participants learn.. It has been used in hundreds of corporate training sessions to help adults communicate more effectively, recognize their strengths, navigate conflict, and work better with others.

The Taking Flight Student Profile builds on the standard profile with guidance and insights tailored specifically to students.

Is this career coaching?

Not exactly. Although greater self-awareness can help students make better future decisions, this experience primarily helps them understand how they naturally communicate, work with others, respond to stress, and approach everyday situations.

The profile does include a “Making Career Decisions & Planning Your Career Path” section, with a comprehensive list of occupations matched to the student’s behavioral style. While career planning is not the primary focus of the coaching, this section can help students explore possibilities, choose classes or activities, and begin thinking about paths that may fit them.

The list is intended as a starting point for exploration—not a prescription for what your student should become.

How are the coaching sessions conducted?

Whenever possible, coaching sessions are held in person. Because students and families have busy schedules, most students will use a combination of in-person and virtual sessions. We’ll work together to choose the format that best supports your student while fitting your family’s schedule.

Will my student be told what personality “type” they are?

Absolutely! Based on your student’s answers to the online assessment, they will discover their primary and secondary personality type(s).

The truth is…we are all a blend of all four types. Your student will learn their unique makeup.

Students are not placed in a box or told who they should be. They’ll explore who they perfectly and wonderfully….are.

How long does the program take to complete?

Ideally, the program takes about four weeks to complete, although the schedule can be adjusted based on your student’s availability.

During the first week, your student will receive and complete the assessment. The three coaching sessions typically take place over the following three weeks. This pace allows time for students to practice what they’re learning and bring real-life questions or situations into our conversations—without adding too much to the already-busy first weeks of school.

Will parents receive the student’s results?

This is your student’s coaching experience. After we review their profile together, I’ll encourage them to share it with someone they trust—and suggest that person be you.

Parents are also invited to join the final portion of the last session. This gives the student an opportunity to share key takeaways and discuss how their family can support what they’ve learned, while allowing them to retain ownership of the experience.
